Imagine a coat that told the story of the place you call home.
In this family oriented workshop, you will get to embellish your own fabric square with designs, shapes, motifs and patterns that mean something to you. This could be a place or a memory. It could be a building, the birds, coffee with friends, days in the park, the interior of your home, friends, pets – it’s all down to you.
Everyone’s squares will then go be crafted together by expert tailor Daylan Mollentze to make a Grand Coat, a lovely metaphor for how we all live together in one big community.
The finished item will go into an exhibition of artwork that has been made by members of our communities that will be on public display at Easter.
Free to join, suitable for all ages, and all materials and equipment will be provided.
Spaces are limited so please book your spot here!
This event is supported by Newham Enrichment and is part of our The Place I Call Home series, which explores the places and things which make us feel at home, in creative and engaging ways. Selected works will be shown in a public art exhibition this Spring.
