Sew Lovely

Sew Lovely: Memory Bear Workshop

Our Sew workshop series is back! Join us this month for a memory bear workshop hosted by Daylan Mollentze.

The sessions will be split into 2 slots:

Slot 1, 10:00-14:00

Slot 2, 14:00-18:00

Bring with you some fabrics or textiles which could include sentimental items like blankets, scarves or items of clothing and make your own stuffed bear! This could be a thoughtful gift or to immortalise valuable memories of a loved one. You could also use your dogs old clothes, your grandfathers old football shirt or your favourite tea towel!

This is great opportunity to have fun and learn about sewing patterns and get an induction on a sewing machine! Use the sewing patterns, equipment and machines provided to make your stuffed bear!

How the workshop will run within the individual four hour slot:

  • Attendees will use the card templates provided to cut out the pattern pieces for their bears.

  • Each member will be given a 1-1 tutorial on the domestic sewing machine.

  • The shell of the bear will be sewn leaving a small gap to turn them out and stuff with wadding.

  • The small gap will then be hand sewn closed and the bear will be complete.

Funded by London Borough of Newham.

Please note this will not be held at the usual gallery space but at Christopher Mikes studios which is a 2 minute walk from the gallery space.
