art in the docks
Art in the Docks is the leading community arts organisation in Newham Docklands
Based in the heart of Royal Albert Wharf, a fast-growing residential development, Art in the Docks partners with multiple local authorities, funding partners and social enterprises, including social housing provider Notting Hill Genesis to brins together a dynamic community of artists and creators from all ages and backgrounds. Art in the Docks’ activities aim to foster a collaborative and supportive environment for all, through organising events that connect, involve, and engage with our local community. As our creative arts programme continues to gain momentum, the local community flourishes, bringing a new lease of life into the area
There are three main strands to what we do.
Firstly, through our Creative Pathways programme we actively signpost young people towards careers in the creative economy. Secondly, our Community Cultural Engagement programme makes art and culture accessible to everyone, proactively engaging with communities who frequently find themselves excluded from the traditional art world. And lastly, we deliver workshops which are focused on creativity-led therapy, in a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment.
“art in the docks has changed our community life completely, creating a hub to meet your neighbours and make new friends”
