Woven Hybrids

Working on a four shaft loom, I will embark on a journey exploring materials through woven textiles. Taking as a starting point the ritual of setting up the loom, I will use pattern, texture, form and shape to create a series of hybrid woven samples documenting this voyage of discovery.

During the voyage residency I discovered the materiality of textiles shaping themselves, through woven structures and yarn choices, using non-conventional materials such as paper yarns, silk steel and a variety of textured yarns. These formations led to the discovery of three-dimensional surfaces creating hidden patterns within a pattern throughout the woven samples.
