Layers is a residency about the concept of memory, created by the artists Annamaria Antonazzo and Vincenzo Muratore.

The artists will investigate the artistic meaning of memories, intended as “Mimnésco” and as “Re-Cordor”.

Whilst sculpting and painting, they will try to unveil the hidden system that unites the memorising process of human experiences.

When something happens, the memory we form is influenced by our personal feelings and by the surrounding environment. Our memory is unable to retain all the information that we receive.

Using symbolism, the memory could be seen as a canvas or a sketchbook; it shapes what we are and determines our choices and actions.

We are constantly, subconsciously fighting against our desire to forget certain memories, and the desire to conserve others.

We are made of the same substance of our stories.

We are the result of millions of layers of memories.

The residency will be open from Monday the 4th until Saturday the 10th of April 2022 .

The artists will be working at the Art in the Docks Gallery, where they will meet the local community Monday to Saturday from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm, and from 2 pm to 5 pm, as well as on

Sundays the 10th from 10 am to 1 pm
